How Newsig Maps Market News to Asset Reactions

This page explains how Newsig turns a stream of market headlines into asset pages and measured reaction data.

Sources and selection

Newsig starts with publicly available RSS feeds from financial and market-news publishers. Stories are deduplicated, scored for importance and retained with attribution to the original source. The source link remains the place to read the full article.

Asset mapping

Each story can be mapped to one or more tracked assets, such as CL for WTI crude, BTC for Bitcoin, NVDA for Nvidia or TLT for long Treasuries. Mapping uses the asset catalogue, title and description signals, with additional review for higher-importance stories.

Sentiment

The sentiment view is a news-weighted bull/bear balance for a tracked asset over a recent window. It describes the tone of the mapped news; it is not a price forecast and it is not a recommendation.

The 24-hour reaction window

When price data is available, Newsig measures the largest move and the net change during the 24 hours after a story publication time. Asset pages aggregate these observations into counts, averages, percentiles and the share of events that closed lower. These are historical measurements, not claims that the story caused the move.

Updates and missing data

News and reaction records update as new feeds and market data arrive. A very recent story may not have a completed reaction record yet. Timestamps, source links and the coverage window are shown so readers can judge freshness.

Limits

Feed publication times, asset matching, delayed quotes and market hours can all affect the result. Newsig may miss a source or map a story imperfectly. If you find an error, please send the URL and a short explanation so it can be reviewed.
